The Palomino horse

This horse owes its name to its dress called Palomino. Currently it would be more a coat than a breed in the strict sense, more a type characterized by this coat. But in the United States, this saddle horse has the status of a breed where its Studbook is governed by the Palomino Horse Association, founded in 1936 to try to create a real breed.

One of the parents must be a registered Palomino, the other can be an Arabian, a Thoroughbred or a Quarter Horse. Moreover, it should be noted that when crossing two Palominos, one out of two foals is not a Palomino, whereas the crossing of a cream and a chestnut systematically gives the color. Remember that it is the Andalusian who brought the Palomino dress in America. In Great Britain, it is bred only as a pony.
