The Knabstrup horse
A spotted Iberian mare bought by a Danish butcher named Flaebe was given the name Flaebehoppen. Sold to Major Villars Lunn, who had her covered on his Knabstrup estate by a Frederiksborg Palomino stallion, she gave birth in 1813 to the spotted foal on an auber background, Flaebehingsten, founder of the Knabstrup breed. Focusing on coat color, this Danish breed evolved into a powerful, ordinary type. Recent infusions of Thoroughbreds have improved its constitution.
