The Maremmana horse
The Maremmana, or Maremmano (this is the name under which the most information can be found on the Internet) or Maremme horse, originating from the Maremma region of Tuscany, is probably the result of crossing Norfolk Roadsters and Neapolitans with local mares. It has been improved with infusions of Italian Thoroughbred blood but has lost some of its hardiness. Crossbred with Franches-Montagnes, it gave rise to the Catria horse.
