The Warm-blooded Dutch Horse

The Warm-blooded Dutch Horse or KWPN (Koninklijk Warmblood Paardenstamboek Nederland) is a mixture of two Dutch breeds, the Gelderlander and the Groningen. From the 19th century onwards, crosses were made with the Thoroughbred, Hanoverian, Holstein, Trakehner, Normand and French Saddle. The breed became official in 1958 with the opening of a Studbook. Since then, the breed has gained international renown.
